An excellent synth pedal. Does most of the stuff that the EHX Micro Synth does, but for half the price. Can produce some really great distortion/fuzz sounds and the turn of any knob produces a new tone. You have 7 different knobs and a switch that chooses between two voicings – that's a lot of tones and you can spend a lot of time experimenting to create autowah, ring modulator, and synthy sounds. I'm happy with my purchase and I can say that this pedal is a lot of fun. Sometimes it reminds me of Daft Punk tones, but I mostly play with power chords. What I would improve is the clarity of higher-notes and tracking: if you're playing open chords, then your sound will get a bit messy. I think this pedal works best with hard rock riffs, power chords, and also bass. Unlike most pedals, the Dirty Robot is not very straight forward and you're going to need to spend a few hours playing around and turning knobs in order to figure out what kind of sounds you can make. So don't expect to have it all figured out after taking the pedal out of the box, you're bound to do a lot of experimentation and exploration. This is no MXR Phase 90 to have it simple. Also, it might be a bit difficult to change your settings live on stage – especially if you haven't memorized the exact positions of the knobs. Nonetheless, if you play at home or use the pedal for studio recordings then you're perfectly fine.
